In order to file a Federal extension with the IRS, you'll need to file Form 4868, which will give you an automatic six month extension to October 15th!

If your total balance due to the IRS across all years is less than $50,000 you will most likely be automatically accepted into a Streamlined Payment Agreement.

Similar to the VITA Program, the Low-Income Tax Clinic Program may be able to help you with your issue in ways that we cannot. The LITC scope is wider than ours and that gives them a bit more latitude than us in leveraging solutions.
